Where is everyone? How is every one?

Post by Harriet »

It's been a long time since anyone posted. It would be great to hear how you're all doing. Me? On a scale of 1 to 100 on some days I'm at a 1 and some on others I'm closer to 100. Never tremor free of course and never able to stand without holding on to or leaning against something, but sometimes better able to deal with walking slowly, checking out at the supermarket and all the usual challenges. And then on other days when I go out, collapse feels imminent (but never really happens.) I don't know what makes the difference--maybe being tired or rested, maybe the result of stress or the afterglow of a good experience. Who knows? I'd like to figure out how to feel steady more consistently. (Wouldn't we all?)

Anyhow I hope some of you will let us know how things are going.

Best to all.

Hi Harriett
Everything you just posted rings true for me too. I definitely have my good days and bad days. I especially notice that when I have just had a workout at the gym my standing ability is greatly reduced to almost nothing and even trying to lean on things is almost out of the question. I have always put it down to being quite tired or over stimulated. On days when I am quite relaxed and not in a hurry to do something I can cope a bit better. The last few days have been very tiring with all the preparations for Christmas and I definitely seem to be having quite a lot more problems even doing my daily chores. I also found the other day when we were shopping I found it extremely difficult with so many more people around that I finally just sat down and let my husband finish it off. I should have brought my wheelchair with me but I thought I could handle just picking up a few things...
Life will go on and I will learn to cope again as my tremor is slowly progressing to my standing less and less. At least I have a very supportive family and friends who mostly understand some of what I am going through and that really helps me a lot. I hope you and everyone else have a very Merry Christmas and hopefully 2011 will be a good one for all of us.

Hi...this `where is everyone? How is everyone ?...has not been up dated since Harriet and Chris,in Dec 2010 !
as a new member ,I visit the OT site often, reading up old inputs [for want of a better word ?] to learn more about OT and what others are doing to help themselfs and cope .
I often come across really helpful stuff and for a while a little group bounces off each other ,which I find comforting even though often they are some years old ....which then gets me thinking how those people are now? Then when I try to revisit I cant even find it again!!
[so much to learn computer wise!!]
I would really appreciate it , if this site could be updated with a few stories of `how you are `:)
where you are at ?...etc
Be nice for new members to feel free to just chat !! throw in a question maybe ?
Thanks ...DiDi NZ

Morning DiDi: You posted in the wrong title area. The one that most people type in and the one you have been posting in is just " How is everyone ? " , Betty just posted on May 13, 2012. I think that is the reason you got lost. The forum has grown tremendously and your digging deeply is very good but it is easy to get lost. If you are looking for a particular topic, login first, then go to search on the right top of the page type it in and it will give you all the posts in the forum of that topic. However you have been doing a great job of posting your OT story and how you are spreading awareness with your friends and associates. Hope this helps, Gloria
