Mothers OT

Post by Georgiapeach »

Hi, I think I have finally figured out how to be a part of a forum. My
mother is 83 years old. Or I should say young. She is a fiesty
beautiful redhead with an infectious smile. She has had OT legs for about
23 years. She walks 3-5 miles everyday rain or shine. We have been to Mayo
Clinic in Jacksonville,Fla with her. They said her attitude is the best
they have seen. She tried to take Clonepan, but it spaced her out. She has
been of mysiline for all these years. Nothing new that we can find. Have
you ever heard of
OT being caused from eating wild game. As a small girl growing up in rural
Louisiana wild game was a daily meal. She thinks that might be a clue.
She had toxoplasmosis. I am writing you because she doesn't use a computer.
I live in Michigan and she lives on the coast of Georgia. I talk to her
2-3 times daily. Just a bit of information....Most grocery stores will do
your shopping for you. I called
store manager after my Dad died 8 years ago. The were more than happy to
help. My mothers calls in an order or goes with her list. She sits down
and they are her legs. She always pays by Visa.....Plus she gets money
back at end of year. Any information would be helpful. She still lives
alone and does alot of volunteer work. Even has a garden. I can't keep up
with her. She has no health issues other than OT legs..Bless you for
bringing this out. Am anxious to hear from anybody. Hope I am doing this
right........

Georgiapeach: Thank you so much for the wonderful posting. I'm glad you figured out how to be part of the forum. The way you presented the story of your mother's history and how she lives with OT including her thoughts on possible cause is how we gather information looking for the common denominators of OT. Hi there!
I do hope that wild game and free moving beasts will not be the cause of OT! I've also grown up on a farm with grass-eating sheep and cattle, one or two pigs also came on the table and a lot of elk and deer. I cannot think this could be bad for you. On the contrary - at least to me - as they provide natural food compared to some "meat-factories" where the poor beast almost are force fed and get a lot of medication...

What I do think is interesting though, if I may, is the change in food overall. How the change to fast food, prepared food and semi-prepared things has come into our lives. Myself I have allways cooked "from the start" - but I still have OT!
:-)

Give your Mum my warmest regards all the way from Sweden. (I use a natrium valproate drug that helps the tremors a fair bit by the way)
