Kitchen Stools

Has anybody found a solution for sitting down while cooking? I am wheeling around right now on a little computer chair with wheels but I can't quite reach the counter while sitting on it. Consequently I also drag in a bar stool for peeling veggies and mixing etc. It has no wheels and is heavy. Something in between that has wheels and swivels would be wonderful. What do you do?

I HAVE A STOOL THAT IS ABOUT 26 IN HIGH.
IT WORKS GOOD FOR ME.
I GOT IT AT WALLMART.
SOMETIMES I MAY HAVE TO GET IT MADE SHORTER. I HAVE MORE THAT ONE.
IT ALSO HELPS AT THE SINK TO WASH DISHES.
SOMETHING I FOUND USEFUL WAS TO OPEN MY CUPBOARD DOORS UNDER MY SINK WHEN I AM USING THE KITCHEN SINK SO THAT I HAVE A PLACE TO PUT MY KNEES. THIS REALLY HELPS.
IF YOU USE THE STOOL AT THE STOVE IT ALSO HELPS TO HAVE A FOOT STOOL.
ARE WE ALL CRAZY? LOL
NO JUST DOING WHAT WE HAVE TO GET BY.

This is the one I use in the kitchen.Doesnt help my cooking skills but Its perfect for the job.It swivels, has somewhere to rest feet and is light weight.

Thanks everyone for your helpful replies. My Husband is now back from the lumber yard and putting castors on a bar stool for me. It IS helpful to open the cupboard doors when I'm at the sink. Now if I could find a skateboard that attaches to my bottom so I can scoot around and vacuuam

I use a rolling office chair to vaccum and mop the floors. I also use it to cook and wash dishes. It is not the best for cooking because I can not see into the pots to cook. I too need something better to cook and wash dishes.
The swivel bar stool sounds like a great idea. Will have to save up and get one.

I love my (expensive) kitchen stool. Advantages:
a) Can go as tall as 31" (newer models might go higher).
b) Has a hydraulic lift (like a fancy office chair) so I can adjust up & down depending on what I'm doing.
c) The seat is a broad saddle shape (like a horse saddle, not a bike seat), which is much better than a flat seat: I'm more stable and anchored so I can reach and lean to either side, with force, and not topple over.
d) Having a foot on each side makes me very agile to swivel and push off so I whiz around the kitchen.

Yes, I use a similar hydraulic lift stool. It came with plastic casters which didn't roll at all. So I had to get metal casters which cost about as much as the stool, but made it roll as I expected on my kitchen floor. All together I paid about $150.00. I ordered from Amazon: Boss Caresoft Medical Stool, and 3" Neoprene Single Wheel Chrome Chair Caster with 7/16" x 7/8" Grip Ring Stem. I am not putting direct links to Amazon here because they could change over time, but you should be able to find these items by doing a search.
I haven't tried the saddle, but it does sound like it might work better than the seat. Sometimes I do feel like I'm going to slide off, especially if I've raised it and forgotten to lower it again before sitting on it later.

I bought a vintage metal stool for the kitchen that goes up and down. I don't know the heights offhand but it is perfect for everything in the kitchen. You can find them in antique stores or there have been some nice repos made with wooden or metal seats. The wheels make it easy to scoot around. Lena
