OT and posture

Post by golfnut »

Dear friends.
In my Swedish OT community some of us are trying something new. At least new for me. We've found that if we adapt a proud and upright posture (think supermodel or operasinger or something), perhaps also tensing the butt a bit, but primarily straighten up - tremors are not felt as much!!
Strange no? But interesting.
My completely unscientific thought is that fear will make us crunch a little. We wrap ourselves around ourselves, for protection. That's a very common and natural thing to do. OT IS scary in so many ways. So perhaps we hunch over a little... and then that (somehow) enhances tremors, so we hunch a bit more... and the circle is on...

One of us has spoken to her massage therapist about this and is now getting muscular treatments - a theory is that there might be a clinch somewhere along the spine? But this is all very new and no one knows. As usual LOL

However, this is completely safe. No medication, no surgery. We can all just try it a little. Improving our posture. Standing tall and proud, and see what happens. If you do - please reply here. Let us all know what you feel - if anything. OK?

Many thanks.
