Some Questions

I have read the board the best I can but as some of the stuff is going back a couple of years I wondered if there were some of you that can answer some questions
Is there any medication being used at the moment that helps OTC that doesnt have adverse side effects?
Is OTC reconised as a disabilty? The reason I ask this was recently I was being searched at an airport and the security man took my shaking as a sign of nervousnes
and he would not let me lean or hold on to anything.
Is there a recognised card you can show? when you are in a bank or checking in somewhere.I dont want to have to keep explaining to every body that I cant stand still for more than a few seconds.
I am going to try and attend the meeting in April so I can find out more.
I am also a very positive thinking person and always try and see the funny side of things

I carry a perscription pad note from my Neurologist that states I have a disabilty. I also was given a handicapped license plate so that I can park closer to buildings during the winter months of ice and snow. Of course, it is good all year round but it was because of our winter weather that I first received one. Patty R

I am intending on coming to the meeting in April because I live in Spain (but am English) there is very litle known about the condition
Today I bought a collapsable fishing stool with telescopic legs and have already found it very useful.I would appreciate any other tips that might help.

WELL I WOULD SUGGEST GETTING A WHELLCHAIR WHEN YOU ORDER YOUR TICKET.
THE AIRLINE WILL ACCOMODATE YOU WITH THAT.
YOU HAVE A LONG FLIGHT AND THERE WILL BE SOME STANDING TO DEAL WITH.
IT REALLY HELPS SO MUCH. I COULD NOT EVEN THINK OF TRAVELLING WITHOUT IT.

Hi Mike,

We are working on an "OT Card", I should have one posted by the end of week. After a little research it appears that there are disability cards and identification for specific states, countries, and methods of travel (metro, etc). But not a global card that will suffice.

So..... why not make our own card. Quickly identifiable with the universal symbol for disabilities and a brief description. There have been a couple posts in the past about such a card and your new post is a good reminder of the need. If anyone is coming to the meeting we should have some cards in a nice vinyl pouch with an elastic for attaching to luggage. If you aren't attending the meeting I will post a link to a high resolution file that you can take to your local printshop/office supply and they should be able to print and laminate the card.... or at least that's the current plan.

Hello Mike,
Was just reading your email to say that you are coming to the meeting - that is just terrific! We will all look forward to meeting you. I use a cane that has a seat attached, for travelling in the airports. It works fine for me. Some people use a wheelchair but you definitely need something.

Hi Jeff, regarding the OT Card you mentioned to show one has a disability; have you been able to get something together? That sounds like such a great idea!

I have been checking for one on the forum, but either I have missed it; haven't looked in the right place, or you haven't had a chance to put it online yet. That will be most helpful to those of us who appear normal, but have this problem of staggering, and shaking like a leaf in the wind!

I most certainly want one; as I'm sure you will find others do as well.

Looking forward to seeing Gloria again and meeting you.
