Yoga & deep breathing good for OT !!!!!

Post by gloria »

Hello my friends: Today I attended my Yoga class and I know that I have mentioned that I have been doing Chair Yoga for a number of years but feel it is one thing we who have OT can participate and benefit from. All of us in my class have physical problems of some sort and our instructor is an exceptionally trained and devoted person giving consideration for all of our individual problems. As part of any Yoga position proper breathing is important and instructions for that are given during the class session. This is very important for us because we are a tremor disability and like most tremor disabilities we are shallow breathers and need to be aware of breathing deeply at all times to get more oxygen into our body to reduce the tension build up of living with OT. The Yoga poses are great stretches of our body from head to those poor toes who curl under when we stand . As always, Gloria

Hi Gloria...I hope lunch was fun. Sorry I couldnt make it. I don't know where I could find a yoga class like this. I am now going to pt 3 times a week to strength my legs and hips. (ew Neuro's suggestion). He also mentioned possibility of surgically implanting a tesnsor unit on my spine in the future. Said he needed more research for this one. But...I have always had tensor treatments on my thighs....so I asked my accupuncturist to try the spine and she agree it made sense. So......she did it and I felt great!!!! I wanted to go again the next day....but I go on Wed. so I will wait. Interesting thought...so I wanted to share with you and all.

Has anyone had anything like this????
