I was diagnosed with Primary Orthostatic Tremor in August 2004. It didn't take as long to get a diagnosis for me because I was already seeing a neurologist at a major teaching hospital for a seizure disorder. I would like to tell my story from when it began; I think there is a definite connection to the following episode/and or illness but the doctors cannot show any scientific proof of what I beleive happened to me. In February of '04 I suffered from a mycoplasma infection and was treated for bronchitis with Zithromax; within 24 hrs. I was in the ER with anaphylaxis; I was taken off the Zithromax and also an ACE inhibitor which both cause swelling of the tongue, I was in ICU 4 days. When I came home after 7 days I had to use walker and realized I had a problem with my balance, felt so weird. My neurologist lowered some of my seizure med dose but that didn't help so he sent me to a doctor of physical medicine who sent me to the ENT clinic; the doctor I saw there told me I had a movement disorder and sent me to a doctor in dept. of Neurology specializing in movement disorders. I was told it is very rare and they video-taped me. I was started on Clonazepam but now I am taking 50MG Primidone an in addition to that, I take Topamax and Lamictal for seizures so if I don't post very often, I have some trouble staying focused.
