Baclofen

Any one finding this drug (used for MS to counteract spasticity) of any use? A neurologist consult I saw last week put me on it, as I can't tolerate the side-effects of neurontyn.

I haven't taken Baclofen. I started Neurotin abt 4 weeks ago. My leg tremors are much improved. I am noticing that my short term memory is getting worse (as it has been for over a yr) but I am wondering if the Neurontin is making it worse also. I read that it could cause mood changes which I am certainly watching for. Do you mind saying what your side effects were to this drug?

Dell: I'm not familar with Baclofen but I have been on Neurontin/Gabapentin for 11 years and it does take the edge off our tremors and seems to be more beign than other meds. However I do find times when speaking I will come out with a wrong word although when writing I do not have this problem. Go figure that out???? Unfornately we do not have any medications on the market that give us any great relief but some relief is better than none. Gloria

I have no experience with Baclofen, but I do with Neurontin.
It bothered my cognitive function tremendously and I was unable to tolerate it.
I also would say the wrong word at times, couldn't think straight, and after driving off with a car door open,
and hitting someone's bumper in a parking lot, I discontinued taking it.

I too have been taking neurontin/gabapentin for many years and find that it helps a little. I'm still experimenting with how much to take and at what intervals. I don't think it affects my cognitive functioning but it does sometimes affect my mood--for the better. Sometimes I find myself feeling inexplicably mellow and cheerful and then I remember--oh yes the gabapentin! I know we all have different reactions to the drugs that are prescribed for OT and it seems, unfortunately, to be a matter of trial and error for each of us until we find what give us the most relief with the least side effects.

I live in china and my doctor perscribed baclofen it helps about 50% . The tremor has all but stoped but the tight ness in the legs and lack of balance while standing remain . I tend to constipation and it is worse on baclofen I also sleep more. no other problems.

Maddie: I have been meaning to ask you a few questions that came to mind. How long did you have the symptoms of OT before you were diagnosed and how long have you been on Baclofen? Getting 50 % relief is great ! At what age did your symptoms start? Do you have any idea what might have caused your OT?
