Acupuncture result

Post by Johnny P »

I have had 5 sessions with acupuncture and the results are amazing. My 'freestanding time' has changed from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. In daily life that is a big difference when you shower or cook etc.
I get this treatment from a retired chinese doctor who sees me as an interesting case to 'hobby'. It consist of stimulation of different points on the head with electronic pulses on the needles. She activates the movement, depression and equilibrium points on the skull, a pulse over the spine and general relaxation points (Thumb to big Toe). The total session takes about two hours. She wants to do at least 10 sessions.
I don't want to claim there is a universal cure now, i am just a single case; I dont know jet how the long time results will be but till now i am astonished.
The treatment is high school acupuncture , if you want to try it use a good trained chinese doctor, preferably with solid general medical training; this is not for the fysiotherapist who did a part-time course. My doctor does not take anymore cases and she doesn't speak english.

I've always wondered about acupuncture and if it would help. This is on my list for the next time I see or talk to my doctors. But then they really don't know a lot about POT so might not have an answer. Keep us posted about your results.

I too, would be very interested in acupuncture and possible beneficial results for OT.

We have some practitioners here in Panama but I find myself wondering if there are different disciplines or practices with the acupuncture field and if so, which would likely be the most efficacious for us.

Yes, I have had a few sessions with acupuncture and each time there it has been helpful, however the effect wears off in a few days, so I would have to do it often and there are costs involved.

I have now stopped with the treatment. After the initial result the progress came to a halt. I am better of now then before the treatment but it has had a limited but significant effect. I will have to see what the long term effects are and if it wears off if a 'refill' helps. My therapist said that with these kind of treatments the time between the beginning of the disease and the therapy plays a big role, e.g. revitalisation of nerves after a stroke can only be done within a half year. On OT there are (of course) no data available.
