Hi, I'm Susan. I'm seeing a neurologist who is not confident of my OT diagnosis and has referred me to the Jacksonville Mayo Clinic for evaluation, to rule out MS. I'm waiting for them to call to make my appointment.

My dad had late onset MS and I noticed a few other mention a parent with MS. I think it would be interesting to know how common that is among our group.

Hello Susan: Has you present neurologist given you an EMG test, most generally that can help determine OT. Nonetheless it is good that your neurologist is sending you to the Mayo Clinic for evalution, plus they might be able to answer your question about the association of parents having MS.

Please keep us posted on your findings at the Mayo Clinic, Gloria

Hi Gloria :)

I had to go look up EMG and it looks like the answer might be no; she did a nerve conduction study but I don't remember any needles getting inserted, unless they are very small? I remember the test being slightly uncomfortable, more like just weird than outright painful or anything. But every test that's been done, including brain MRIs, spinal MRI, a spinal tap, has been inconclusive. I have tremors, I have lesions, I've had a few MS-ish episodes over the last 15 years. It's nerve wracking (har har) waiting to be told what is going on with me. If there is something I need to be doing to optimize my health, I want to know ASAP. Right??

Thanks for your support :)

My Dad had MS but GP told me I didn't have it as my eyesight was OK. Strange as my Dad didn't have eyesight problems either. Ive wondered if OT and MS ate linke .
