breathing problems

Hello, yesterday I was sent for pulmonary testing. That was because I told my GP doctor that I got short of breath doing the simplest of things. Does anyone get easily out of breath after doing simple things? Example: after getting out of the shower are you alittle out of breath? After making 2 beds are you out of breath? After light vacuuming do you get out of breath? I'm thinking OT and being short of breath might go together. I was just diagnosed with OT a couple of weeks ago. I know now I've had it for years just didn't know what it was. How is breathing for others when it comes to easy chores? Phyllis

Phyllis:
Yes, anxiety can provoke breathing problems and of course living with OT anxiety is constant as I go through the day with OT limiting us in the way we do things. I am conscious of this and have learned the skills of deep breathing. Proper breathing helps minimize situational stress responses therefore deep breathing must become an important OT coping skill. Deep breathing relaxes the mind and body ! Hope this helps, Gloria

Thanks Gloria, I am going to give deep breathing a try. Sounds good to me. My heart checked out good and I bet my Pulmonary tests will come out good too. I'll practice my deep breathing. Phyl
