My doctor believes my OT's result from my orthostatic hypotension (low blood pressure resulting from standing or sitting too long, resulting in the pooling of blood in my legs, not enough blood getting to my brain, thus the tremors...)

I am taking Midodrine and Florinef, which are blood pressure medications taken to try to increase my blood pressure, but they don't seem to be helping at all. The theory is that these meds are supposed to constrict my blood vessels so the blood won't pool in my legs and prevent the OT's and hypotension. I've been taking these meds for about 3-4 months and I haven't noticed any difference. Anyone else suffering from this or on any other meds that they can recommend that I bring up to my doctor?

Hi, there, I hate to speak from so little experience but I think your doctor may not be on the right track. I had very low blood pressure all my life, only getting 'spikey' after menopause. The neurologist put me on propranolol (about 100mg /day) and primodone (at night only) which lowered my BP even more but has largely controlled the symptoms. At least I can pretty much function, with the usual aids like a chair or a wall at hand as needed! Now my biggest problem is finding the energy to do the things I need to do which may be due to the even lower blood pressure or just the affect of the OT. Not sure. I had to go to two neurologists after my internist to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment that helped. Keep after those guys! Donna
