Hello Gloria.

My name is Mark Runge and I live in the mountains of western NC. I found your site after I was diagnosed with OT from a web search.

I was diagnosed with PMR(Poly Myalgia Rheumatica) a very painful condition with pain in the arms and legs. This disorder can come on overnight which it did with me,

After taking Prednizone for about a year, the pain has lessened. The came OT. I sing tenor in our church choir and had trouble standing during our anthem. I now sit on a stool for relief. My Neuroogist has put me on Neurotnin (600 mg daily) so far after two weeks I have not seen any inprovement. Is there another drug that OT patients have tried with a better outcome? Thank you posting this site, it has been very helpful to read other people's comments.

Mark: First let me welcome you to the website but sorry this means that you too have OT. In answer to your question, yes, there are other medications that our OT friends have been using but my message is always the same, there is nothing that makes our symptoms disappear completely. The only two at present that have had actual limited studies with our disorder are Clonazepam(Klonopin) and Neurontin/gabapentin (generic) however, if you read some of the input from our OT friends on the Forum there are other meds mentioned and their experiences with them. I personally have been on gabapentin for seven years, and have found I can tolerate my OT better with it than without anything. If you are only on 600 mg. per day perhaps you should ask your doctor if you need to increase it. Three evenly spaced doses during the day is better as well. Keep us posted, Gloria

Thank you for responding to my posting. I have an appointment next week and I will ask my neurologist about increasing the dosage.
