Finding this site today will be my saviour
I felt so alone with this OT for six years and now I find unfortunate people from all over the world are suffering. Today I have found a name for this disease, previously I was told it was essential tremor in the legs which is rare. Thank you so much for creating this site, I feel that I have joined the gang, all this support and information is overwhelming. The doctors told me for two years "it was all in my mind" so I insisted on seeing a physiatrist to get it out of my mind. After the visit, the report to the doctor stated I was sane and I was refered to a neurologist. After dismissing other neurological diseases he said it was ET and there is nothing he can do. Tried the various medications but found I slept most of the time. Like all of you I have difficulties shopping, meeting people in the street who expect a chat, social functions, cooking, housework and find it hard to accept I can't keep the standards up in my home. I had to give up work, so I thought "if I can't do work which involves standing, I will retrain" At 57 years young I attended college for two years and obtained a number of IT qualifications. I found achieving new skills thoroughly enjoyable and now teach IT to the over fifties. I have now stopped worrying about what I can't do and focus on my new life. If I know I am going to be in a stressful situation I have a stiff drink first (this definitely works). More fun than pills!
