Dear friends: I recently purchased at a local medical supply store a 4 legged folding cane/ sling seat combo which is much steadier than the 3 legged type that is generally available. Drive Medical Design manufactures this product but I found out you could not get it directly from them but here are two options to obtain one. 1: go to their web site http://www.drivemedical.com type in your zip code and they will give you the nearest medical supplier that carries it or 2: go to this web site distributor and you can purchase it thru their site http://www.activeforever.com ( First click on Mobility Aids, Click on Canes & accessories -- go to page 2 to find Drive Sling Seat Cane..$29.95 ) I find I do not use cane/seats very often but for certain situations they come in handy. I second Gloria's recommendation. This sling seat cane is wonderful. It is light and easy to carry. The seat is comfortable and stable. It doesn't function as well as my regular cane because I'm short (5 feet tall) and the height of the seat/cane doesn't adjust. But it works OK to keep me steady when I walk and the seat height is fine.

I use it mainly when I travel. I just returned from a trip to Alaska and used everywhere. Whenever I was on a walking tour or in situations where there were no places to sit or lean, I would pop open my sling seat and I was comfortable.

I had tried several 3-legged canes prior to purchasing this sling seat cane. I always felt as if I was going to break my neck falling off the tiny, wobbly seat.
