OT and employment

I'm interested in people's experiences of OT and employment - what do people do for work ? Have u had to give up work due to OT? Has anyone changed/started a new career since getting OT syptoms?

I have been a stay at home mother for the past 14 1/2 years and am currently going through an increasingly acrimonious divorce.
My husband thinks that I should go out and get a job and that he should not have to give me a penny on divorce.
We have 3 children:14,12 and9. He doesn't 'buy into' OT.

Any comments would be appreciated!

Dear Petra: Yes, OT is life changing thus in the work force you know what your limitations are and will have to find work that adapts to your needs. Your husband " doesn't buy into" OT, have your neurologist talk to him or show him the documentation and Links on the website. Gloria

Your question is very timely for me. I am self employed. I paint murals, an artist I suppose. I'm finding it increasingly difficult to continue what I do. The business end of the business, meeting with clients and doing presentations is getting harder for me as with the slightest onset of nervousness my tremor kicks in. My work is physical as I work on construction sites at times and have to haul all my equipment in and out on a daily basis. I'm not as physically strong as I used to be, my own fault. But the added stress of dealing with the tremor is a problem. Touching the brush to a wall for the first stroke is difficult as my hands will start to shake. The fine motor skill I need seems to vanish. I push through and do what I can.

If I can't seem to find something to help I envision I will have to give up my business. I have a very large job coming up in the next few months and am considering calling it quits after that.
