EMG

Hi all, I finally had an EMG and definitely have OT. I am not taking meds at this time. I'm afraid of side effects and don't have any insurance right now. I had to wait 2 months for this appt. and I don't understand why the first neurologist didn't just give me this test instead of making me have an expensive MRI which showed nothing. he actually tried to discourage me from having the EMG, telling me I didn't need it and it was painful. I badgered him for 3 weeks until he finally referred me to the other neurologist. I have had this condition for at least 4 years but symptoms were so mild until last year that I ignored them. I just want to thank whoever it was on this board that told me that the test I needed was an EMG or I never would have known what to tell the doctor. from everything I have read I am not as bad off as a lot of you folks are. is it possible to stay at the same level for a long time? I live alone now but I am probably going to have to figure out what to do if or when I get worse.

I too went to a neurologist who ordered a MRI. Results were normal. I got the impression that they were looking for a brain tumor to rule that out first. However, the neurologist released me after 2 visits, the initial visit and the follow up after the tests she ordered. I will be going to my doctor tomorrow and will be asking him about the EMG as well as the medications that many mention here.
