OT website - Facebook community page

Post by admin »

The OT website now has a Facebook Community Page. The goal of the Facebook page is to spread the word about OT and to keep everyone in the OT community, caregivers, family and friends informed about what is happening on the OT website/forum. The postings will be links to a sampling of the news, tips, and discussions that can be found on the website/forum.

You don’t need to be a Facebook member to see most of what’s on the page, only to “Like” the page or to comment on the postings. But, if you are a member of Facebook, "Liking" the page helps with search results when other people are looking for information on OT, and therefore helps with OT awareness.

Hi Nicola,

Thanks for your post.

Yes, Nicola has a wonderful support group on Facebook, do join.

As we mentioned our Facebook Page is to communicate with the FB community about events occurring on the website and we intentionally created a page instead of a group such as Nicola's.

The OT forum/website is an open environment which embraces the primary goal of awareness. As the discussion continues, doctors and the newly diagnosed gain important insight into the world of OT, and the definition and "spectrum" of OT continually changes. Not everyone always agrees and there are certainly no clear answers but that is why this is a discussion. This open communication is what has connected people with OT around the world, sparked funding for research, and inspired local meetings. All of these things were non-existent a couple years ago. The OT community should be very proud their work.

So, do join support groups, and if possible attend meetings. And as you encounter new thoughts or ideas in meetings or support groups about OT, please post on the forum to share this with the world. This is awareness and this is the key to finding answers. We are all in this together with a common goal.
