Re: How is everyone?

Hi all! I too tend to stumble around in the dark and have been known to bounce off the odd wall even with night lights. I often wake my dear hubby up in the middle of the night with my thumping around. My legs almost feel like stumps and have a mind of their own in the dark. When I saw my specialist...

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

Hi Susan I have been reading with interest all your posts and are quite amazed how well you are coping. You asked about stairs and escalators.....I have trouble with stairs but only descending. I always must make sure I can hold on to a rail no matter what or I feel terribly unbalanced. I have had t...

Re: How is everyone?

Hi Harriet Good for you.....you sound exactly like me in stores. I was in London Drugs the other day and the same thing happened....I had things to check out but the lines were too long so I found a comfy chair in the lawn chairs and waited. Eventually there was only 1 person in line so I hightailed...

Re: How is everyone?

Hello everyone! I too check the site quite often to see how people are coping and it is nice to hear from you. I have my good days and bad days like the rest of you and sometimes I get tired of always having to worry about my shaky legs and how long I can actually do something which requires standin...

Re: Wheelchairs

Hi everyone Thanks for being so positive Betty....this site is really a wonderful thing as we can feel free to express how we feel. Mike I think getting a wheelchair is not giving in but moving on to the next stage in our life. We are all still young enough to enjoy ourselves and if a wheelchair wil...

Re: Wheelchairs

Hi Gloria Thanks for the information. I have tried a walker similar to the one on the website.....it is okay for shopping but I find my tremor kicks in unless I walk quickly which is hard to do in some stores and at events. I also found when I was attending a social function it was very hard to hold...

Re: Wheelchairs

Hi Mike I am seriously thinking of getting a wheelchair. I too find shopping quite exhausting especially when stores don't have a power cart available. I really miss not being able to spend time looking at things. I also think a wheelchair will be handy for social events such as receptions, big conc...

Re: Interesting New Diagnosis

Hi again
I reread what I submitted last night....must have been too tired. My vertigo stopped in the Spring of 2006....so I have been dizzy free for 2 years now. Still have fingers crossed.
Take care
Chris :)

Re: Interesting New Diagnosis

Hi all Just thought I would put my thoughts into this conversation as well. My first attack of vertigo was in 1993...long before I was aware of any leg tremors. I had some pretty severe episodes lasting anywhere from a few weeks to several months. I was diaganosed with benign postional vertigo by an...

Re: Stopping Neurontin

Hi Mike When I stopped taking Gabapentin I weaned myself off quite slowly....I think it took almost a month to be weaned off completely. I didn't notice any withdrawal symptoms except my tremors got a bit worse after I came off the very high doses. On the plus side I did mentally feel a lot better a...

Re: Cost of Gabapentin/ Neurontin

Hi Lily I am really surprised that the cost of Gabapentin is not covered by any drug plans in Ontario. Do you have an extended medical plan with an employer? Here in British Columbia my husband worked for the provincial government (now retired) and our extended medical drug plan pays 80% of drugs af...

Re: Hello from Seattle

Hi Maria I am your neighbour to the north in British Columbia. It was nice to read your post. I will definitely ask for a special hotel room next time I travel as I find the bathrooms very difficult in most hotels especially the showers. I too carry a folding chair with me when I attend events where...

Re: Newbie

Hi Michael Welcome...I too am 58 years old and it was a relief when I finally had a name for my shakiness. I have had symptoms for about 10 years now but have really increased in the last 2 years...quite dramatically in fact. We just get by the best we can and change the way we go about our daily li...
