Re: Cautionary tale; it's not always OT

Thank you, Teresaann, for your kind words. I have always had pain in my back from OT. If you place your hands flat on your back just above your waist, you are over what I call my OT muscles. These are the ones that tell me when I need to sit down and if I ignore them, they sit me down!

Cautionary tale; it's not always OT

I wanted to let folks know that we should always be careful when we think that a pain is OT. I fell in September and was going to my chiropractor for adjustments. In early Oct. he said he thought something else might be going on and I should go to my primary doctor and make sure we weren't missing s...

First Mayo meeting

Hi everyone, I am trying to remember exactly when we had our first meeting at the Mayo clinic. I think it was in April of 2008. I am having back surgery next week and we are trying to figure out when I had a drug reaction. I remember it was just before the meeting. Thank you for the info. I hope eve...

Re: Two Tremors?

That's 3600 mg a day. It helps me not start to shake as soon as I do without Neurontin. It allows me to stand and do things longer before the muscle( I've named it my OT muscle) in my back warns me to stop. If I don't stop, it will go into a spasm and make me stop. I think it helps me go longer and ...

Re: Two Tremors?

I take Neurontin (900 mg 4 times a day) and have for at least 12 years. It helps a lot. I tried Klonopin and had a bad reaction after two days. I tried it first but since I had such good results with Neurontin (Gabapentin) I haven't tried anything else. Good luck. Oh, I did feel very off when I trie...

Re: Gabapentin - does anyone have any expierience of this drug?

Hi Ali, I have been taking Gabapentin also know as Neurontin for over five years and it has been a great help to me. I take 900 mg at breakfast, dinner and bedtime and 1200 mg at noon. The only side effect that I think I have is that I have trouble with word retrieval. If I am planning on saying tha...

Re: Registered Disabled

Hi Mike, I was given a note from my neurologist for my first blue placard. I had to get a note to renew it every few years. Then, I bought a new car and asked for handicapped license plate. Much to my surprise and delight I discovered that the State of Alaska gives the first handicapped license plat...

Hi everyone, My mother has had severe restless legs for the past ten years. She is 83 and lives with me. She fell last year and we waited in the emergency room for several hours. She started having trouble with RLS and so I tried rubbing her legs to see if that would help. Her muscle were like rock....

Re: Do any of you suffer from backache due to OT ?

Hi Everyone, I have been away from the site too long. I have back pain in the right lower back muscle if I have been doing too much. It hurts and if I don't get off my feet, it makes me sit down. I find if I have been inactive that I can stand for shorter periods of time before I need to sit down. I...

hello from alaska and I have a question

I have been away from the forum for awhile and just read what Kaylie said in May of 2005. She said her doctor said that OT was a familial disease and so her children would inherit it. I didn't think there was enough research on OT for any conclusions to be made about passing it on to children. I kno...

Dear Lynda and Other OT travelers, I am from Alaska and fly for most trips. The use of a wheelchair at the airports is a must. People don't look where they are going, many bump into you and/or stop short in front of you. If you request a wheelchair, most airlines will have them available when you ge...
