OT and Gastroparesis
Hi everyone, It's been awhile. I have been seeing a movement specialist at Jefferson Hospital In Philadelphia. He sure does like to load on the meds. I'm not sure he has a full understanding of our situation. I have a question for the group, has anyone else been diagnosed with gastroparesis along wi...

Re: Standing Time? this is how long I can stand...
While I find I can stand for only a short time. I try to find something for support such as a wall or post. A newer (and very disturbing) development for me has been when I'm standing, I can't lift my feet. For example, at my son's wedding, we were having the mother son dance (I was dreading) and I ...

Re: Standing Time? this is how long I can stand...
I can stand for about 30 seconds before I must find something to hold onto or sit down. My condition is further complicated by orthostatic hypotension. My doctor has not been able to figure out why my blood pressure bottoms out when I stand up. I get super lightheaded the longer I'm on my feet. I pa...

Re: Standing Time? this is how long I can stand...
I have had OT for about 15 years, diagnosed in 2008. I find my standing time has been rapidly decreasing. I'm especially wobbly if I have been sitting for a long period of time. My sons wedding is coming up Oct. 1, wish m  e luck. I'm already having anxiety about being able to do the "mo...

Re: How is everyone?
Thanks Gloria for the input. My daughter used to work for the University of Penn. I see there are a few neurologists that specialize in movement disorders. I think I will wait util the fall and give one of them a try. You are right about the progression of symptoms, even a trip to the grocery store ...

Re: How is everyone?
Hi, it's been awhile since I posted.
I have now moved from Las Vegas to Cape May, NJ. Don't know why but it seems my symptoms have really become more difficult than ever.
I will be looking for a neurologist within a reasonable distance from my area. Any suggestions?

Re: OT and working
I also was I your difficult situation. I was working in a job that required me to stand all day which we all know is all but impossible to do. I went on vacation and was not able to return. That was June 2014. I went on a leave of absence hoping to return to work but I hired an attorney to fill out ...

Re: Is anyone still employed full time?
I really do like my job and wanted to work 2 more years. My husband and I are planning to come back to NJ in 2016 when my husband is 66. I'm thinking I may have to apply for SS disability if the new meds don't work out. Saw my Dr. yesterday, he gave me 1 month LOA to give the meds a chance to work. ...

Is anyone still employed full time?
I'm still working full time in a very challenging job that requires me to on my feet for 8 hours but also requires me to have a clear head as well. I found that clonazapan was clouding my judgement and also interfering with the quality of my life at home, so the doctor has been slowly taking me off ...

Re: I have a question???? Social Security Disability Benefit
Rhonda, That was very helpful advice. I think you pinpointed what I am feeling. A sense of nothing really matters, I suppose you could call that depression. I have been wanting to stop taking the meds because of the side effects but I have been just been trying to struggle through to get to at least...

Re: I have a question???? Social Security Disability Benefit
Thank you for your support so far. I find with the clonazapan, even on the lower dose, I lose who I am. I think most of you know what I mean by that. I small pay off is not worth having no emotions, no feelings, basically going through life in a cloud. My husband often says he wants his wife back. I...

I have a question???? Social Security Disability Benefits
Hello everyone, It's been awhile since I've touched base. I have been working full time 40 hours per week on my feet, taking 4mg of clonazepam. I have it pretty well timed so that it doesn't have too much of an effect on my thinking by the time I go to work. Now, since the New Year has come around, ...

I have had OT for about 10 years but was officialy diagnosed 3 years ago at UCLA. Currently my doctor has me on klonapin 3mg along with (topamax 200mg and depakote 500mg for migraine prevention) all before bedtime. I find after a few hours of sleep, I literally can't turn over . Re: How is everyone?
It's been awhile since I posted. Just bought a house and have been getting settled. Here is the issue. Got into a pretty serious car accident. Was sitting at a stop sign and got hit by a car coming from my left. My car (a chevy Tahoe) was totaled. Front end comletely destroyed. Now, my right knee is...

Re: How is everyone?
When I work, I'm on my feet and doing a lot of walking, by the end of the day, my legs ache terribly. Once I sit down, I find I'm very stiff and sore when I try to get up. You would think since I do this 5 days a week, my muscles would get used to it, but it's as if my muscles have no memory. (if th...
