Re: Triggers for tremors

Some days are a bit better, some a bit worse. Adrenaline from fear, being startled, anxiety, self-consciousness all make the tremor dramatically worse for hours. Effects of food are more subtle, but yes, it does seem to help that I've shifted to a "paleo" diet that's generally somewhat hy...

My straw pole!

Dear Gloria, You are quite right; I did write before and you wanted chapter and verse regarding my diagnosis etc. I replied on 5940. What I really want to know is whether OT is always progressive, leading inevitably to zero standing time in the end. Are some OTers luckier than others? My simptoms ar...

Hi Gloria, you have a good memory! 5940 was my reply that time.

Mark: It is strange that I feel I've have heard from a Mark before stating the same queries about OT......my answer is the same with a beginning question of how you were diagnosed by your neurologist? With the diagnosing of OT an EMG is used to determine the Hz-Hertz frequency per second ........th...

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

Dear Adrian, Great to hear from you again so soon. Not at all offended, you neither I hope. Loved your comment 'they carry on talking as if I hadn't said anything I must sit down'. So far I am very lucky but I can see yours has progressed over time. I wonder if your experience is the OT normal and i...

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

Hi Adrian, Sorry to hear how bad you are now. How many people have you talked to about their. OT and it's progression? How many people get away with 'mild OT' and how many don't?
Hence my stupid straw poll idea! Good luck, I'll let you know if I find a cure! Yours, Mark

Standing time progression, A to D on/off meds and other

Hi OTers, As a new boy, of 71, what worries me, and many others I guess, is "what the future will bring"...... For me, although I may have had very minor symptoms for very many years, they only became an issue in the last two years and "unhelped" standing time without shakes/pain...

DIY adaption to adjustable Flipstick

At Xmas time I get worried at the thought of going to a drinks party to find there is no seating and anyway neither sitting or leaning against a wall and hoping people will approach you is ideal. I bought an adjustable Flipstick which is really a shooting stick where the 'seat' flips through 90 degr...

Re: Alcohol as a cause of early onset of OT

Dear Gloria, many thanks for yours. Sorry this is so I....I.....I, but you did ask! I was suffering from bad depression in late 2015 and on meds. In November I saw a private physicatrist who increased the dose I was on. I was already complaing that I was shaking. By mid 2016 the depression was not i...

Re: Alcohol as a cause of early onset of OT

I am a 71 yo male and only recently diagnosed. I find a little alcohol helps me relax and increases standing time. Funnily enough doing DIY, certainly up a ladder or on a chair (enforced standing) and hard physical work increase the shakes. Do other people suffer from pain in the knees and ankles? T...

Did anyone see this? I, for one, fear my brain is less sharp than it was. Is that OT?

Re: Orthostatic Tremor: An Update on a Rare Entity

I would be interested to know if others admit that OT symptoms include cognitive or phsychiatric problems. I will admit to memory issues and perhaps I am noticing that my mental reasoning is less effective than it used to be. Perhaps these are symptoms of old age. Do others find that, rather than pr...

Googling key words did not find your wonderful site

Saw my neurologist for the first time this week and she told me I had OT. THEN I FOUND YOUR SITE AND IT's all making sense suddenly! Is it possible? I have googled jelly legs, shaky/wobbly legs and many other key words for ages and never found your wonderful site. Could it be, because you started yo...
