Re: Vibrating insoles

For the past decade, I have even found it more difficult to walk on grass let alone cobble stones!

Re: Mini-meetings are great !!!!!!!!

I know this post is three years old but the thought of a mini meet would really help deal with the isolation OT causes. There are things I can no longer do with my friends but more important would be a chance to develop a small support group of friends with OT -even just talking to someone else over...

Laser Light

Occasionally, after leaning, sitting for too long or faced with a curb or slope to negotiate, I experience a gait initiation failure or freezing on the spot. This is similar to the freezing that Parkinson's patients exhibit. I have tried to trick my brain by taking a step backwards or marching on th...

Re: What specifics do you do? Here are mine

I use a cane to get me up to a point where I am walking fast enough to not need it. Then I just carry it but then it feels awkward as it interferes with normal arm movement. It is still with me though for times I slow down, feel insecure or balance goes. I do the finger wall and furniture walking tr...

Re: The OT Travel / ID Info Card !

I could have used this last year when I had trouble getting through security. I was randomly picked to go through one of those scanners where you put your arms up and hold still. It is done in seconds of course, but I didn't have seconds before I was in tremor mode. The screener was convinced that I...

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

Thanks Gloria, I did get a level 3 rollator with a seat but I think I overestimated my current ability to use it. It has 8 inch wheels and really flies down slopes faster than I do. The manual says not to use the brakes when walking. Hoping to work up to using it. Realize I probably should have gott...

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

Saw a neurologist yesterday. He felt that I had Two tremors - orthostatic and essential. I really hadn't noticed the ET but he did on the finger to nose movement. Not sure I agree because I make a lot of seed bead bracelets for women in shelters at Christmas and other fine finger tasks without an is...

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

I'm not sure that I belong here but your forum has helped me more than you will know! I have been having symptoms similar to what you describe for years and not really been able to articulate what was happening. My family doctor's set up is that you are sitting in the examining room when he enters. ...
