I tried Wellbutrin (Bupropion) . Think it works for me.

Dear All, I`ve waited a few months before sending this post. I have found some relief from taking a med with few side effects. In the UK the drug is markets as an anti-smoking treatment. In the US as an antidepressant. Bupropion or Wellbutrin are the common names (Zyban in UK) I gave it a try becaus...

Re: A suggestion on how to cope with 'telling people'

Hey Jeff, Thanks so much for the template and your thoughts. Great to see your letter/draft from the MS community. They tackled the same issue, clearly. Super-late here in London, UK. My own version was way simpler, but I'm sure people can take the best from all potential 'to whom it may concern' co...

Re: A suggestion on how to cope with 'telling people'

that's exactly the sort of situation that it has helped me to have a 1 page summary (might go to 2!) I took it in two stages, first of all I gave a list of my experience of OT to my neurologist and then he made his own (MUCH BETTER, he did a brilliant job) 1 page version that I now use as a 'to whom...

Re: How many people have OT?

I meant to ask my Uk doc, tickled by the idea of having a legal prescription. But I forgot... surely that's the wrong way round! Hohoho... sorry bad joke. Pot, surely bound to help with spasticity and relieve aching etc. If the mood change stuff agrees with you. Lethargy last thing I need in my life.

Re: A suggestion on how to cope with 'telling people'

I wondered if people might find a pro-forma version of the 'list' helpful. So they can customise it to give to their doctor/neurologist and politely ask that they turn it into an official letter for agencies and/or short-cut to all the questions you have to deal with every time!!

What do you reckon?

A suggestion on how to cope with 'telling people'

I was writing to another newly-diagnosed person just now and thought MAYBE that this could be of interest to others too. a suggestion on how to cope with 'having to tell people'- I'm still practising after 6 months, and have got a really useful hint to share! Ask your Neurologist to do a 1 page lett...

Re: Is anyone still employed full time?

Hi there, I just wanted to add a quick word. I also was diagnosed relatively recently (last October). It is really scary and difficult time, and you have had the added trauma and grief of losing your husband. One thing I think it is worth saying. Don't beat yourself up about feeling upset about havi...

Re: Alcohol as a cause of early onset of OT

Dear Golfnut, thank you for your reply and moral support. If you find yourself in London again, you should get in touch? I live in Holborn. Hope you had a good meeting with Dr Bain? You clearly respect him. Is he interested in the advances in Deep Brain Stimulation? Would be very interested to know ...

Re: Alcohol as a cause of early onset of OT

Thanks so much to you Gloria and Maureen, hugely appreciate the moral support and for the suggestion to leave the topic up. I'm pretty new to the world of forums, so not entirely clear on the the protocols. For example, would I delete this message when you've replied so that it is not cluttering the...

What can I/we do to help raise awareness of OT?

Forgive me, please if you have already debated this topic. And this site is so brilliant and informative. Lifesaver, actually! They have a campaign on for Cancer Research on the TV in the UK at the moment saying 'Cancer can be the loneliest place'. But for cancer sufferers there are great teams of w...

Can we challenge lazy diagnoses? like alcohol

Dear Gloria, Adrian, and everyone else, I'd be really interested to know more if anyone has ever connected alcohol with our condition. Any ideas? Should the issue be posted somewhere else, for example? So that if another sufferer has some info to hand to rebut such a ridiculous assertion. All best, ...

Fingers crossed...

Alcohol as a cause of early onset of OT

Hoping for views and info from the group , as I am still reeling from a meeting with a neurology Doctor (at Great Britains 'National Neurological Hospital') who told me that I had precipitated early onset of OT by drinking too much alcohol. (I am 52 years old and recently diagnosed, though already ...

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

Hello there I live in London, England, and was told last week that I have OT. In this early stage of diagnosis, I'm finding this period very VERY hard to cope with indeed. (I've read a lot of your very kindly shared information about what fellow sufferers have to endure.) I think that it is particul...
