Re: After Illness

Bev, As an Asthmatic with a history of bronchial ailments I can testify that a severe bout will add to anxiety and confirm that anxiety exacerbates whatever it is that causes our debilitaing tremor. From my own observations I find that air travel increases the incidence of chest infections and recov...

Re: Cannabis Oil

I had posted a query a few years ago on the efficacy of cannabis to the alleviation of our condition. As I never received a reply I assumed that this might be a taboo subject. Some people with MS that I know swear by the relief from their symptoms (which are similar but patently more disabling than ...

Re: How is everyone?

Hi, Gloria -and all the OThers (is that a suitable term for Glorias Gang?) Further to my first meeting with my fellow sufferers at the Houston 2016 convention I am still eager to learn more about our shared condition. Without any disrespect I would note that we had many other things in common apart ...

Re: An OT Polling Series - Review of Systems

How do you register to complete the questionnaire? I have had a series of spinal problems ultimately resolved by spinal fusion but no experience of brain trauma. The only dizziness experienced has come from the medications prescribed for OT. Always happy to contribute to the common (uncommon) cause....

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

Gloria, Jeff, Beth, Thank you all for your commitment and compassion. Now that we have all met each other and have put faces to names can you tell us how we can send private messages to individual members? If we post our private email addresses on the public website that could be open to intrusion. ...

Re: How is everyone?

Hi, Mike, Great to meet you and the other members of the OT Gang in Houston. I took your tip and upgraded my homeward flight to Premium. I figured that 170 Euros was a fair price for an aisle seat with free leg room and a reclining seat, however, within an hour the empty seat accompanying mine was g...

Re: OT Meeting Houston - March 10-11 discussion

Gloria, Jeff, Beth, Thank you very much for maintaining the momentum. This meeting emphasised your commitment to the cause of improving the lives of OT sufferers. Much thank also to Pat and Maggie for arranging the venue and speakers. Salient observations; Jane's excellent (unscripted) summary of sy...

I am looking forward to meeting fellow travellers at Baylor. Have we established a hotel yet? I did send an email to Pat over a week ago but never received a reply.
All the best

Re: Has anyone else experienced this?

I would recommend getting the Flu Jab while in the UK, it is free for over 65 and only about £10 - £20 for youngsters. Should help to prevent the most common strains but, remember, there are some odd viruses going about which can catch you unawares. With our balance problems the symptoms of Flu are ...

Re: Has anyone else experienced this?

I had a similar experience when returning from an overseas trip. During the flight I felt my tremor build up although it never normally affects me in a sedentary position. After the flight I could not stay upright and for the next few days I struggled with balance and some nausea. In retrospect I th...

Re: Give prisms, vision therapy a shot

Prism therapy sounds like a breakthrough that is worth a try. Anyone know if any licensed practitioners in UK :?: As no positive response received I did some probing and eventually tracked down two optometrists who are recognised in this form of therapy; Robert Longhurst of Chelmsford and Ian Jordan...

Great data collection and presentation. How come no indication of OT in China, India or Russia? Do they call it something else in these countries?

Re: How many people have OT?

Thanks, Gloria, I am always impressed by your constant, careful attention to "the flock." My observation is based on the reaction I get after flights. Since retiring I have not done much air travel but have noticed exaggerated symptoms of unsteadiness, dizziness and affected gait along wit...

Re: How many people have OT?

How many people with OT have never been on an aeroplane? My experiences with flying have led me to consider compression / decompression as a causal factor. Vertigo? Is that a factor? On reading the comments on ophthalmic conditions I wonder how these are all related. I have noticed as my condition d...

Re: Air Travel Decompression

Thanks all,
With everyone else I will be sure to plan my journeys better and take full advantage of the assistance available. I would like to pursue further the effects of decompression on fellow OT sufferers. Does anyone else have similar experiences?
