Re: Knee Replacement and POTS

Thanks so much. There is stage 4 osteoarthritis in the left knee. I have been waiting 16 months for the initial consult with the surgeon,(Canadian healthcare!). One of the many factors that obviously concerns me in the post operative course, and rehabilitation with the tremor, having to use crutches f...

Re: KETO DIET WORKING WONDERS!!

Hmmm.....I would , personally be concerned about long term effects of the diet. I know in the beginning all is well and good.
However, as time goes on, cholesterol, blood pressure increase, I not sure .

Knee Replacement and POTS

Wondering if any members here have had a knee replacement ?
What challenges were faced , and what was the outcome of the surgery?

I will be seeing an orthopedic surgeon in the fall, and of course have to consider all, possibilities.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Tinnunitis

I developed tinnitus in January. It is in the left ear, it is a pulsatile throbbing that correlates with the heartbeat. My blood pressure and pulse are fine, I have no carotid bruits, so know it's not cardiac related.
I wonder if it is a component of pots.

Re: Off balance in the dark

Yes, this has also been an issue for a few years now. I often have to reach walls to steady myself, in the dark.I have a small flashlight by my side of the bed, to turn on during night time waking. It has helped guide the way, and ? Makes the trip feel more solid and steady.

Diet and OT

It's interesting to me that we don't discuss diet and foods very much here on this site. I was diagnosed in 2013, and at that time ate anything and everything. I was 50 lbs overweight ,also taking high blood pressure medicine, high cholesterol medicine had GERD ,also arthritis and many other diet rel...

Re: making taking a shower easier

When we redid our bathroom, I (thankfully) had the installer place a bar on the side that I could hold onto ,and also a personal handheld shower. Before showering, I strategically place bath mats on the floor, so I can lean up against the bathroom counter to dry myself......works well for me so far!...

Re: OT and working

I too am a nurse ,and was officially diagnosed a few years ago. I was working in a clinic setting ,doing wound care, in a new job, when the legs started to tremor with such rapidity that I had to back up (with sterile gloves and all ) and lean against the wall.... The poor patient was more worried ab...

Re: How is everyone?

Hello again to all! Haven't been here for a while and the website seems to be getting busier! O.T continues to be a nuisance for me, not a disease. (Keep telling myself!) I find myself to be seeking out chairs, places to sit more often than I used to. I seem to be leaning more heavily onto the kitche...

Re: How is everyone?

Re: Can shoes help our balance?

Before I found this website and before I knew this condition had a name,I had a referral for orthotics(I also am a classic flat footed person).
I found that they give an increased sense of stability, though do not decrease the tremor at all;.they just make my feet feel secure!

Re: How is everyone?

So things have been interesting ,to say the least! After almost 2 years retired, i decided to go back to work for a few days a month.(4-6) I am a home care nurse and had an experience the first week of returning that shocked and frightened me. I was standing beside a stretcher, preparing to do a dre...

Re: Mercury toxicity, other heavy metals and POT

I have not yet been "officially" diagnosed...however......I also have been researching this aspect. I have many amalgam fillings in my teeth. I suppose the first step is to find out how much metal one has in their bodies.. Where I live, I believe it is a claimable dental expense...somethin...
