Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

Thanks Lynette for the reply. I'm currently trying the gel injections for the knee pain and am hopeful that if I get some relief, the achilles will have time to heal. At least that way I can tell which is causing the most problem - the knee or the achilles. This is a frustrating disability. I'm glad...

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

Good idea Gloria - I hadn't thought about her. I haven't seen her in awhile as there wasn't much more she could do since I wasn't willing to take some of the meds she thought might help.

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction

Hi Lynette - I'm looking at a possible knee replacement too and am concerned about how much of my symptoms are knee related and how much is OT. My right Achilles tendon has been a problem for over a year, and my PT who I trust a lot, has said that she thinks that the reason it won't heal is partly b...

Thank you Jeff for the article on Dental and standing balance. Perhaps you should post the link in another area so there can be a thread on it? I think I DO feel more stable if I keep my teeth together when I stand. Interesting.

Re: Periodic Symptoms

I have days when it's worse and other days that aren't so bad. I've never had them go away completely. But anything is possible I suppose as so little is known of the cause of OT.

Re: How is everyone?

Wow Lynette - What an ordeal! Adversary brings people together and it sounds like that has happened with your neighbors. And how good that other ships were in the area and able to help! I'm so glad your husband is getting home soon. That should help reduce your stress level and the shakes. All the b...

Re: How is everyone?

Hi Frankie - I'm also 69 an take a small dose Clonazapam. I find it helps me a lot. Don't be afraid to try it if your current drugs don't work. Just don't go up too fast as it's addicting and hard to come off of if you've been on it for a long time.

Re: Walking issues

I understand your concern about Clonezapam. I've been taking a very low dose for 6 or 7 years and it helps my tremor. I think I have a touch of brain fog, but for me it's worth it for having less tremors and anxiety. I haven't found that the effect has lessened over time. I'm not going to go up thou...

Re: Standing Time? this is how long I can stand...

I guess I'm pretty lucky. I can still stand for about 4 minutes without holding on to something or shifting my weight before having to sit down. My legs are pretty sore by then though.

Re: REVIEW OF SYSTEMS, OT POLL #3, The Eyes

This poll isn't working right. It only let's me check one thing out of the whole list. So if I check for prism glasses, everything else remains unchecked.

Re: How is everyone?

Before I got my Cpap machine, I used to wake up sweaty. Not with a fever though. Have you ever been tested for Sleep apnea? The lack of oxygen while sleeping can cause all kinds of problems besides sleepiness. That being said, when I'm sick, my OT is much worse. I guess stress is stress, be it emoti...

Re: Has anyone else experienced this?

It sounds like vertigo or a serious sinus infection. I've had both and they will make me dizzy. Vertigo is caused by an inner ear imbalance. Once with a sinus backup, the left side of my face drooped and I thought I was having a stroke, but it was sinus. Either one might be from a cold, but if it co...

Re: Give prisms, vision therapy a shot

A little more follow-up to my prisms. I got them several months ago and am completely used to them now. Unfortunately I haven't been following through with the exercises Dr. Padula gave me. My usual aversion to exercise I guess. But I have been trying to stand better and have been taking some Pilate...

Re: How many people have OT?

I too get more shaky with air travel, but it starts on the way to the airport and continues for about a day after. I think for me it has to do with nerves. Will I make it to the plane on time? Will the plane be delayed? And the excitement of going to a new place with a different daily routine. AND t...
