Re: Getting worse - trouble walking now

More on this: I went to an osteopath today, who confirmed that my thigh and leg muscles are in some considerable trouble as a result of using them wrongly to try to stand. She treated them, and it HURT!! She said she could not offer to treat me for OT, because she doesn't understand the condition (w...

Re: Getting worse - trouble walking now

Thanks for your prompt reply, Gloria. I can't help feeling that because my muscles are fighting to hold me together when I'm standing still I am actually doing damage elsewhere. You suggest an orthopedist; have you any experience of manipulation?

Getting worse - trouble walking now

Hallo all - I've not been here for some time. In truth, I am despairing of anything happening here in the UK; even Dr Peter Bain admits that OT is being 'sidelined' in the UK. So what chance do we have currently? I now have trouble walking. This has happened quite suddenly; it's becoming painful to ...

Re: Interesting New Diagnosis

Very many thanks for this, Betty. And to Mike, for the link. All symptoms quoted match with what I'm experiencing. I take it that the US version of ENT means the same as ours: Ear Nose and Throat?

Re: Interesting New Diagnosis

What an interesting post, Betty. I have an unusual medical past as well, which goes something like this:- In 1982 I got shingles of the inner ear, and ended up in the neurological ward of the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford - possibly the best known in the country at that time. One of the symptoms of ...

Re: KEEPING THE BALL ROLLING

Peggy - I think you sent me a message, but it got routed to my spam file, and deleted before I could rescue it. Could you resend to me please? Also I am trying to set up an email group for the UK members, but my posts don't seem to be getting through; any thoughts on this?

Re: Meeting

Many thanks, Gloria. Yes, I agree, we could get things moving in the UK. In fact, as I already run a number (3 actually) of email help lists on other health disorder subjects, I'd like to put myself forward as 'UK convener'. I'm retired, so it would be easier for me to act in this role than a workin...

Re: Meeting

It's very gratifying to read that you had a good meeting, and all felt that it was a great success. As a onlooker/outsider from the UK, it would be good to know if any scientific progress was made. Are we any further advanced in getting to know how to deal with OT? If so, how? Sorry to appear to be ...

Re: Do any of you have phobias?

What an interesting email, Harriet. I have emetophobia, have had since I was 5 (am now nearly 77), and belong to an email group of emets - as we call ourselves. As this is OT - Off Topic, and not Orthostatic Tremor! - perhaps it would be better if you replied to me (if you want to!) privately on ric...

Re: Question

Hello all Just wanted to ask if any of you have been skiing with your orthostatic tremor? If you have how did it affect you? Were you able to balance or was it a very painful experience? Thinking of maybe going at some point in the future and would appreciate your feedback. I suspect it could be tr...

Re: A little help needed

Good to hear you've experienced the one-leg effect, Harriet. It doesn't last too long, for me, probably because the leg I'm standing on declares it's had enough anyway. It is nevertheless definitely an improvement, however temporary, and I've reported it to my neurologist. Meanwhile, do you think yo...

Re: A little help needed

Mike - I love your 'teddy bear legs'. Yes, I'd rather continue have those than go about like a zombie. Just discovered a tiny improvement. Might only apply to me, of course. I find if I stand on one leg, not both, the OT takes longer to 'come on'. Anyone else find this? I expect I speak for all of u...
