Re: Standing Time? this is how long I can stand...
Hi. I was diagnosed with slow OT in 2010 but started tests, on what was then my mystery condition, in 1988. I am now 47. My shakes start at 20 seconds and gradually worsen reaching their max by 30 seconds.

Re: Using a smartphone to measure your tremor
Hi Rich.
Not sure I understand but thanks for your response anyway.
My tremors are verified at 6Hz but the helicopter sound I hear is the same as any other OTer.
Cheers, Stash

Re: Using a smartphone to measure your tremor
It is good that with modern technology people are begining to see and hear their tremors. Since 1988 I've been trying to convince doctors that I hear a helicopter noise in my ears which is not tinnitus. Only in 2010 did Dr Bain agree the sound was of my muscles vibrating. What confuses me though is ...

Re: How is everyone?
Hi Cindy.
Physical therapy for OTers - complete waste of time! I've been sent to physio probably about 20 times in my lifetime. I'm asked to do a particular exercise and after a few seconds start shaking. "That's your muscles working.." they say. GRR..

Re: OT - Experienced over time; the Golfnut story
Hi Golfnut. Interesting what you say regarding the pain in the thighs\pelvis area. I've had that for about 5 weeks now. I liken the pain in the thighs to a mild pins and needles sensation. The pelvis pain, although constantly there, is much worse when I'm bent (like when sitting) or standing with we...

Re: Slow OT
Hello again Gloria.
I should've added.. Things have changed since I posted my history back in 2010. I've been researching into OT since then and have found that for 20 secs I can stand without major problems. Then the tremors begin and by 30 secs they have reached their maximum.

Re: Slow OT
Hi Gloria. I must admit when diagnosed I was very confused as I'd never heard of slow OT, hence my query to Dr Bain. David from Bristol, whom I'm sure you know as he runs the UK site, also confirmed it for me and in a way settled my curiosity. Slow OT seems to be even more of a mystery than regular ...

Slow OT
Hello to you all. My EMG has confirmed a tremor having frequency 6hz. After researching OT it appeared to me that OT was unlikely as a a diagnosis due to its speed. I was diagnosed by Dr Bain in London and as many of you are aware he is "the" authority on this condition so I broached him w...

Re: Progression
Hi. I'd like to add that I've had my symptoms since 1988. They gradually got worse over about 2 years but have remained reasonably static ever since, apart from getting temporarily worse at times of stress, heat or exhaustion. I only got diagnosed about 2 years ago as OT in UK is virtually unheard of.

Re: OT - Experienced over time
I had 6Hz coherent OT since 1988 (much milder than anyone on this site). Where it came from nobody knows although it has been linked to a cerebellar dysfunction which I've also had since then. As OT was first diagnosed in 1984ish it was not picked up in 1988 so it has taken me 23 years to get it dia...

Re: undiagnosed - finally diagnosed??
Further to my post above I've had further tests including a surface EMG. In my legs there is a bilateral 5 to 6 Hz frequency tremor. I was led to believe that OT had characteristic 13-18 Hz frequency tremor. Based on these facts, I would exclude any possibility of OT, however my doctor has concluded...

undiagnosed
CEREBELLITIS IN ABSENCE OF AETIOLOGY, CEREBELLAR DYSFUNCTION and AETIOLOGY UNKNOWN are all terms that have been quoted by various doctors throughout the years. I first noticed symptoms in June\July 1988, eg brushing of teeth, writing, running & walking, noises in the ear, and balance to name but...
