Hello Golfnut
That is great news. Having attended the Aussie/NZ meeting in Sydney in June, I know how good it is to be able to meet and chat with other OTers. Enjoy it.

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction
Welcome Nancy Yes, it is always a relief to be given a 'name' to what you have. We all know our own bodies the best and know when something 'does not feel right'. I know when I was diagnosed by my Neurologist just over four years ago, it was such a relief for my husband and I to be given a name for ...

Hello Gloria Yes I did see your post about your lunch with Sue. When I presented her with the plaque she mentioned to me that she was hoping to meet you and Jeff. The video has been broken down into several sections - I know you will definitely see me on the last section presenting Sue with the plaq...

Hello Golfnut That is great news for you. Please let us know how "playing tennis", etc. goes on the Wii. I tried ten pin bowling on it and found every time I went to bowl I would lose my balance, despite having a very wide leg stance. By the time I'd finished the game I couldn't stand up o...

Re: How is everyone?
Hello Patty What a laugh I had about your medical experience - at least the Doctor took notice of what you told him about OT!! Earlier this year I moved to a warmer and drier part of New Zealand in the hope that I could reduce the pain I suffered in my legs, especially during the cold and damp condi...

Re: Pain in legs & lower back
Hello Linda I have found a cure for my pain - a medication called Panadol Osteo (New Zealand and Australia). I'm not sure what it would be called in USA, but it contains 665mg Paracetamol and I can take up to six per 24 Hours (2 tablets, 3 x daily). I turned down Clonazepam for OT when my Neurologis...

Re: what say others?
Hi Di I feel a bit the same way. Sunday was a long day travelling home, only to get back to Blenheim and find my suitcase was not on the plane. Thankfully it was found in Wellington and returned to me about three hours later. Monday was a busy day getting things sorted for Owen to go back to the Isl...

Re: Reports and News from the Australia OT Meeting 2013
I am now back home after a week's holiday in Sydney, then the highlight, attending the first Australia/New Zealand OT Meeting. It was great to meet up with other OTers and be able to talk about the disease with those who know. We learned many things from Dr Julian Rodriguez, with the added bonus of ...

Re: New to the forum? post a quick introduction
Hello all Gloria is right - once we have a diagnosis, we quickly learn ways to keep stress out of our lives. I have certainly gained a lot of inner strength that I did not know I had to get on with life and not let OT take over, even to the point I can go out now and not get in a panic that I will s...

Re: OT - Experienced over time; the Golfnut story
Hello again Golfnut
Was surprised that the pain in back and legs seemed to be a new line for Dr Bain as I too suffer from it and believe it is caused by the stance I take when standing or leaning. Like Di and the swimming pool, will bring it up at the Sydney meeting next month.
Regards, Lynette

Re: OT - Experienced over time; the Golfnut story
Hi Golfnut That is really great news. You are obviously doing everything right to keep on top of the OT. While I know I am much better in my standing, I do still have my moments. I know for sure tiredness sets it all off, especially after having just returned from taking our two grand daughters (8 a...

Re: Pain in legs & lower back
Hi Golfnut I believe the pain that I suffer in my legs and lower back is directly related to OT and the way I lean and stand. While I can now stand for a reasonable amount of time, legs astride, I believe it takes an extra amount of effort, which leads to more strain on the legs and pain is the cons...

Re: How did you describe OT to your doctor before you knew?
Doctor, I have a jelly like feeling in the tops of my legs, especially when standing, was my first explanation of what was happening to my body. That was in early 2007. I had some blood tests which showed my iron levels were down so went on medication. My thyroid levels were also a little low so I h...

Hello Jeff
Thank you for posting the article with accompanying video. Can't wait to show it to my husband and some family and friends so that they may understand a little more what I mean when I say my legs are "going".

Re: what say others?
Hi Di Pleased to see your post - didn't know whether to contact you direct or not as it had been very quiet from your end (you usually post at least weekly) and I was concerned that you might not have been well. I see by your post that you've been up in the Coromandel, hence the silence, as well as ...
